Update on Support and Feedback

As some of you may know, 2bitoperation has been on some downtime the last 2 weeks whilst I moved my existence from Manchester to London. That has almost been completed. I just wanted to apologise for anyone who had to wait a while for any queries or feedback that were submitted to get a response.

I am slowly working through the backlog of queries as best I can. I’d like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding.

A new design for 2bitoperation

We’ve just unveiled our new redesign that’s been some months in the works. It’s a much cleaner and simpler layout than the previous look.

What’s changed...

  1. Gone are the ‘Share’ and ‘Star Ratings’ boxes. They were not really used and were just slowing down load times for users unnecessarily.
  2. Goodies section removed, Stacks now have their own section.
  3. Simpler URLs. We’ve removed the /goodies/ part of the URL (old links and bookmarks will still work).
  4. Unobtrusive search box. Just click the Search icon at the top right for a pop-up search box.
  5. Whole new look and feel.
  6. Less clicking. All theme information resides on the same page (apart from theme previews).
  7. Added Recaptcha to contact form to prevent spam.

We hope you enjoy the new layout and although we’ve been testing it strenuously - if you do notice something wrong, please let us know.

Search feature added (updated)

Just a general update to the site - there is now a search box just to the right of the website if you ever get lost and need to find something quickly.

Update: A few people have emailed in asking how the search box works. It’s powered by the excellent RapidSearch RapidWeaver plugin by Josh Lockhart ($15). The plugin allows the use of Google site search. Once used, a simply HTML form is created for the search box.

For Safari users, you’ll see a familiar OS X style search box with the ability to remember previous searches. Here’s the code from our search box that provides this ability...

<input type="search" class="box" name="query" autosave="searchbox_save" results="5" placeholder="Search 2bitoperation..." />

To find out how to customise the search, visit the RapidSearch page and view some of the video tutorials.
