document.write('<p>I happened across a storm blowing through the south end of <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Owasco_Lake\">Owasco Lake</a> near Auburn, NY. I’ve been trying to get shots of lightning throughout New York state for over a year. It’s fun chasing a storm to a point, but my wallet hates the fact that gas is $2.79/gal in Buffalo. document.write('<p>I had the privilege this summer to be allowed on the sideline and photograph some FC Buffalo minor league soccer games. FC Buffalo and the group of guys that founded the team is yet another example why I love this city. In my, almost, 4 years in Buffalo I have seen time and time again the passion that its citizens display when they get behind something. The story goes that a little while back the previous Buffalo minor league team folded, and Buffalo was without any type of organized professional level soccer. In 2009 <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http://www.nickmendola.com/\">Nick Mendola</a>, Scott Frauenhofer and Ryan Knapp formed the team to fill the vacancy left in Buffalo.</p> <p>FC Buffalo exemplifies what I love about this city - people rallying to do something themselves. I’m originally from Auburn, New York - claim to fame is the Auburn Prison system. So when I moved to Buffalo I was blown away by everything. The food, the art, the sports; everything was fantastic to me. People I’d meet would crap all over Buffalo saying this is wrong of that is wrong and I’d argue with them about how they don’t see the bigger picture. The guys behind FC Buffalo see the big picture - correction, they are the bigger picture. Buffalo will be great again because of guys like Nick, Scott and Ryan starting something from nothing and making the city better for it. </p> <p>That is why, for me, it was a privilege to photograph their games this season.
